Area of a Hexagon

The area of a hexagon calculator finds the Area of a regular hexagon from its Side, or the side from the area. A regular hexagon has six equal sides and six equal angles of 120°. Enter one value and the other is calculated automatically.

How it works

A regular hexagon splits into six equilateral triangles with the same side, so its area is six times the area of one of them:

\[ Area = \frac{3\sqrt{3}}{2} \times Side^2 \]

To find the side, multiply the area by 2, divide by 3√3 and take the square root.

Example

A regular hexagon has sides of 2. The area is 3√3 / 2 × 2² = 6√3 ≈ 10.39. If you know the area is 10.39, leave the side empty and the calculator finds 2.
