Area of a Trapezoid Calculator
The "Area of a Trapezoid" calculator finds any one of four values: Area, Base 1, Base 2, or Height. A trapezoid has one pair of parallel sides, called the bases. Enter any three values and the missing one is calculated automatically.
How it works
The area is the average of the two bases multiplied by the height:
\[ Area = \frac{(Base_1 + Base_2) \times Height}{2} \]
Height is the perpendicular distance between the two parallel bases, not the length of a slanted side.
Example
A trapezoid has bases of 8 and 4 and a height of 5. The area is (8 + 4) × 5 / 2 = 30. If you know the area, one base, and the height, leave the other base empty and the calculator solves for it.
