Area of a Parallelogram

The area of a parallelogram calculator finds any of these three values: Area, Base or Height. A parallelogram has two pairs of parallel sides. Enter two values and the missing one is calculated automatically.

How it works

If you cut the triangle off one side of a parallelogram and move it to the other side, you get a rectangle with the same base and height. So:

\[ Area = Base \times Height \]

The height is the perpendicular distance between the base and the opposite side, not the length of the slanted side.

Example

A parallelogram has a base of 5 and a height of 3. The area is 5 × 3 = 15. If you know the area is 15 and the base is 5, leave the height empty and the calculator finds 3.
