Perimeter of a Rectangle

The perimeter of a rectangle calculator finds any of these three values: Perimeter, Base or Height. The perimeter is the total length around the rectangle. Enter two values and the missing one is calculated automatically.

How it works

A rectangle has two sides equal to the base and two sides equal to the height, so:

\[ Perimeter = 2 \times Base + 2 \times Height \]

To find a side, subtract twice the other side from the perimeter and divide by 2. The perimeter must be greater than twice the side you entered.

Example

A rectangle has a base of 5 and a height of 3. The perimeter is 2 × 5 + 2 × 3 = 16. If you know the perimeter is 16 and the base is 5, leave the height empty and the calculator finds 3.
