Volume of a Pyramid
The volume of a pyramid calculator finds any of these four values: Volume, Length, Width or Height of a pyramid with a rectangular base. For a square base, enter the same value for length and width. Enter three values and the missing one is calculated automatically.
How it works
A pyramid holds exactly one third of the prism with the same base and height:
\[ Volume = \frac{Length \times Width \times Height}{3} \]
The height is the perpendicular distance from the base to the tip, not the length of a slanted edge.
Example
A pyramid has a base of 6 by 4 and a height of 5. The volume is 6 × 4 × 5 / 3 = 40. If you know the volume is 40 and the base is 6 by 4, leave the height empty and the calculator finds 5.
