Hypotenuse Calculator

The hypotenuse calculator finds the Hypotenuse of a right triangle from one Leg and the Angle opposite that leg. It also works the other way: with the hypotenuse and the angle it finds the leg, and with the hypotenuse and the leg it finds the angle. How it works

In a right triangle, the sine of an acute angle is the opposite leg divided by the hypotenuse, so:

\[ Hypotenuse = \frac{Leg}{\sin(Angle)} \]

The angle is in degrees and must be between 0° and 90°. The hypotenuse is always longer than the leg.

Example

A leg measures 5 and the angle opposite it is 30°. The hypotenuse is 5 / sin(30°) = 5 / 0.5 = 10. If you know the hypotenuse is 10 and the leg is 5, leave the angle empty and the calculator finds 30°.
