Before this update, you had to enter plain numbers and keep track of the units yourself. Now you can just type 3 cm, 5 km, 2.5 kg and the calculator will understand it automatically.
It also handles conversions for you — so if a calculator expects metres and you type 150 cm, it will convert it and give you the right answer.
This makes things a lot less error-prone, especially when working with measurements.
